Get Hired Now! A 28-Day Program for Landing the Job You Want
by C.J. Hayden and Frank Traditi
For many reasons, job seekers get stuck in their job search. The reasons often include lack of time, lack of contacts, lack of focus, inconsistent efforts and using the wrong strategies. After weeks and sometimes months of searching, they’re at their wits end. They aren’t getting enough interviews, call backs, or finding enough desirable job openings.
That’s where the book, Get Hired Now!, by C.J. Hayden and Frank Traditi, can help. I just finished reading the book and think it provides an excellent, easy-to-use framework for succeeding in the job search. The main premises are that success in the job search is directly related to how many people you know who have access to job opportunities, selecting the right approaches and executing the strategies consistently until you achieve your goal.
The book is especially useful to those who know the type of job they want, whether in a new field or a promotional opportunity. While they may have an idea of their job goal, they may not know where to start their search, are struggling to prioritize all there is to do in the job search, or find it difficult to stay motivated. The authors take job seekers though a process for identifying job targets- companies or organizations that currently have or might have job opportunities- and for creating a plan for securing employment. They also outline a process whereby job seekers first identify where they are stuck, figure out the most effective strategies for their situation, and set that to a 28-day action plan.
The 28-day plan serves a number of purposes. First, it gives the job seeker a clear road map for their search. Second, it provides guidance about what to do each day to achieve their goal. Third, it allows the job seeker to chart their progress and change course, as necessary. Finally, the plan holds the job seeker accountable for taking daily action toward their goal.
The book contains many suggestions such as enlisting the help of career a guidance professional, success team, or accountability partner to stay on track, or becoming involved in professional associations to broaden one’s contact network.
If you feel stuck in your job search, this book may provide the solution!
